Shelbourn who predeceased her in 1918, and was a keen church- woman and member of the Women's Institute. Signs of respect and sympathy marked the funeral at Denton on Tuesday, the Rev. O.C. Buss officiating.

Emma married George SHELBOURN, son of Robert SHELBOURN and Mary CLARKE, in Dec 1892 in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England. (George SHELBOURN was born on 18 Mar 1867 in Manthorpe Road, Little Gonerby Nr Grantham, Lincolnshire, England and died on 2 May 1918 in Kesteven Community Asylum, Warrington, Lincolnshire.)
The marriage of George Shelbourn, 25 years, Batchelor, "Ironstone Miner" of Denton to Emma Tinkler, 21 years, Spinster of Denton was performed by Rev John Jackson at The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Grantham on 24 Dec 1892. Their fathers were Robert Shelbourn and George Tinkler both "Farm Labourers". Witnesses were William Challands and Sarah Burton.
Marriage recorded in Grantham Vol 7a Page 1016 - Recorded in December quarter.
Sarah Burton witnessing this marriage suggests the Burtons and the Shelbourns had an association at that time. Robert Shelbourn and Gladys Burton did not marry until 1929, over 30 years later.
