"Searchable database of gold diggers from South Australia
who brought or sent their gold home from the Victorian
goldfields. It includes those who deposited gold at the SA
Gold Assay Office in February 1852, the consignors and
consignees associated with the first three mounted police
escorts, and those who lost their receipts or failed to
claim their gold by 29 October 1853.

Note
Having spent some time searching, unsuccessfully for
the marriage of George Walker and Mary Ann Snarey I
began to think they had never married until the
Lincolnshire Marriages Website was updated to
include 1855 marriages and there I found George
marrying Mary Ann in August 1855. Up untill this
point, I assumed the brothers never returned to
Lincolnshire after 1851 - now I need to reseach
voyages to England from South Australia to establish
when George went home. It appears George and Mary
Ann were accompanied by his borther John and
Elizabeth (nee Cole) on the return voyage to
Adelaide in 1856.
This 756 ton ship was built in Cardiff in 1854. It
was employed as a convict transport for Western
Australia.

1. The rear of the display photo reads " Mr &

I believe this to have be written by either Maurice
or Shirley WALKER and "this" George was uncle to
Jospeh WALKER.
