" S. T. WALKER & SONS, drapery and boot emporium,
Ayr Street, Jamestown. CLARENCE WELLESLEY WALKER,
proprietor of the above business, is the eldest son of
Mr. J.T. Walker, and was born at Mount Barker, South
Australia in 1874. After the completion of his education
at Prince Alfred College, as a youth he went into the
drapery store conducted by Mr. Charles H. Hale, North
Adelaide where he gained his initiation into the trade.
Proceeding to Broken Hill, he entered his father's
business in that town, and two years later received the
appointment of manager which he retained for nine years.
In 1902 he took the management of the business at
Jamestown, and in January, 1907 upon the retirement of
his father from active business pursuits became
proprietor of the concern, which he has carried on
successfully from the time of his first arrival in the
town. The emporium was formerly the property of Mr. E.J.
Wills, who conducted it for fifteen years prior to it's
purchase by Mr. J.T.Walker, and comprises two shops
connected by an archway, well stocked with fancy goods,
electroplate, drapery, boots and shoes, clothing and
mercery, etc. The gentleman under review takes a great
interest in local social functions, and is a most
enthusiastic member of the Dramatic Club, of which he is
the honorary secretary.
In 1901 he married Florence Isabel, daughter of the late
Mr. Eddy, of Mount Barker, and has two daughters and one
son."

"WALKER - On 6th May, at Private Hospital, Clarence
Welsie, beloved husband of Florence Isobel Walker of
Jamestown aged 52 years. Interred North Road Cemetery
Sunday afternoon May 8."

Obituary. C.W. (Wells) Walker died in Adelaide on
7 May. He was the eldest son of the late Mr & Mrs
J.T. Walker of Adelaide and late of Kooringa and was
born in 1875 at Mt Barker, but came to Burra with his
parents as a child and stayed till old enough to look
after a branch of his father's business. He has lived
for many years at Jamestown. He married Miss F.I. Eddy.
Alfred & Oswald G. Walker of Kooringa are brothers.

North Road Cemetery Row 36 East side. Enter Via Main
North Road Gate and turn left into row36.
The grave is marked with a white marble cross,
surrounded with white marble and dressed with white
crushed stone.
Wells' (Clarence) wife Florence Isabel and their
daughter Molly (Mary Eugenie Christie nee Walker) are

Rebecca MATTINSON, on 9 Apr 1902 in St Peters College Chapel
(Hackney) dist Norwood. (Florence Isabel EDDY was born on 4
Jul 1868 in Bugle Ranges dist Mount Barker, died on 21 Sep
1950 and was buried in North Road Cemetery.)
