The birth death & marriage information of Thomas Burton was researched by Kevin Parker who sites the IGI (International Genealogy Index) as his source. I have confirmed the details by my own research .CW
The 1861 census shows Thomas working at "The Lodge' Great Ponton for Samuel and Arabella Weston as a "carter". The census has him born at Great Ponton but I suspect the farmer completed the census not the employees and the towns are only a few miles apart.

I can not be ceratin this is "our" Thomas but Great Ponton is closer to Syston than and of the villages where I have found Thomas Burton. The other Thomas Burton's in the 1861 cenus also did not match in age.
